Friends since sixth grade, Ryan and Sara founded North Atlanta Accounting & Tax to leverage their combined 25+ years of experience in banking, corporate finance, and real estate with a business-minded approach to serving individuals and companies alike. Ryan and Sara are both Enrolled Agents, the highest credential awarded by the IRS. Backed by the deep knowledge and experience of a 40-year tax and accounting veteran, we offer both the fresh outlook of modern professionals and the wisdom of decades of experience.
Ryan Lane, EA, CFA
Principal
Ryan is an Enrolled Agent and brings over 13 years of experience in finance and accounting, with a strong focus on commercial real estate. His career spans asset management, acquisitions, lending, and development, giving him broad expertise across asset types and roles. He began his career at KPMG in the tax practice, specializing in valuations for tax and business combination purposes, before moving into progressively senior finance and accounting roles at both national firms and private family offices.
Most recently, Ryan served as Senior Vice President of Finance & Acquisitions for a private build-to-rent housing developer and previously as Senior Vice President of Finance & Accounting for a German developer leading a large-scale mixed-use project in Atlanta. In this role, he managed the full spectrum of finance and accounting functions, including project underwriting, budgeting and forecasting, treasury management, corporate and property accounting, and third-party audits and tax.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ryan is passionate about personal finance and has a lifelong love of working with numbers. He is especially skilled in Microsoft Excel, creating sophisticated financial models and analyses that help clients make smarter, more informed decisions. Ryan earned both his B.S. in Business Administration – Finance and M.S. in Finance, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Florida. He is a CFA Charterholder. He lives in Sandy Springs with his wife, cat, and two dogs.
Sara Barton, EA
Principal
Sara is an Enrolled Agent and an experienced finance professional with more than 13 years of experience in banking, lending, and business process design. Her expertise encompasses valuation, acquisitions, debt origination, and corporate strategy, providing her with a broad knowledge base across different industries with companies at all stages in the business lifecycle.
Daniel Lane, JD, CPA
Senior Advisor
Dan brings nearly 40 years of experience serving the tax and accounting needs of individuals and businesses. Since 2003, he has led his own practice, providing comprehensive accounting and tax services for all forms of corporate entities, as well as estates, trusts, and non-profits.
Known for building long-term relationships, Dan serves as a trusted advisor, guiding clients through the complexities of growing businesses and offering strategic insights tailored to their unique needs. At North Atlanta Accounting & Tax, he continues to provide high-level advisory support while working directly with clients who have complex tax and financial requirements.
Dan earned his Bachelor’s in Accounting from Bowling Green State University, and both a Master’s in Taxation and a Juris Doctor from the University of Akron. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and was admitted to the bar in Ohio.
Dan currently resides in Florida with his wife and two cats, with plans to relocate to the Atlanta area within the next year.
